Our Process

Big renovations go best when nothing is a surprise. Every Craft Builders project follows the same five steps, with one team from first visit to final walkthrough.

Step 1: Getting to know you and your home

We start with a visit. We walk every room, listen to how you live, and talk through what you want the house to do for you. Then we put together a preliminary estimate with a clear scope, allowances, and an honest list of what’s not included.

Step 2: The design phase

Before any design work begins, we agree on a design fee and what it covers. We bring in the right designer or engineer for your project, and we flag the cost of decisions as they come up, not after the drawings are done.

Step 3: Plans, selections and a firm budget

We write detailed specifications room by room, help you make selections with clear deadlines, and collect final bids from the trades we trust. You get a firm budget and a schedule before you sign a construction contract.

Step 4: Permits and preparing your home

We handle permits, order long-lead materials early, and protect your home before work starts: floors, dust, and the things you don’t want touched. Everyone meets before day one so the plan is the same for all of us.

Step 5: Building it

Our crew logs progress every working day, and you can follow along online. If something changes, we stop, explain it, and get your approval in writing before we go on. We finish with a walkthrough together, fix every punch-list item, and hand over warranties and manuals.
